"Since absenteeism is generally regarded..."
Since absenteeism is generally regarded as the greatest cause of academic failure, the goal of District 205 is to encourage the highest attendance rate possible for each and every student.  Excellent attendance is achieved through the united effort of home and school.  In this regard, school personnel, as well as parents and guardians, must work together to ensure students are encouraged to attend every class, every day school is in session, with absences allowed only for legitimate reasons.  Furthermore, good attendance should be acknowledged and rewarded, while poor attendance rates and truancy must be addressed and rectified.
